I just downloaded today's LMS NIghtly. In Firefox the Nightly page
http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/index.php?ver=7.9 (at least on
my Linux PC) appears black and the downloads are not visible unless I
highlight the page. In Chrome there is no problem.

artwork...
I've deleted the imgproxy.db file.

Nothing unusual there. I'd suggest you shut down LMS, delete the
imgproxy.db and restart.
Are you using the Music & Artist information plugin to get artist artwork?

Is there any way to exclude one or more genres when configuring new
browse mode. You define genres which you like include, but you cannot
exclude them (?). I have created one mode which is showing artists (etc)
except those which albums have Classical genre. Now I have to define all
of those
