Just another thought but have you recently run chkdsk to test the
quality of you disks. Also look at smart stats for evidence of failing
sectors?

Thanks for the update. I have just updated to the May 12 beta and in my
plugins there is no mention of DSD? Is there anything else I need to od
to get it enabled?

I have had an ongoing issue with LMS 7.9 on Windows 8.1 64 bit unable to
scan my music directory.
It gets so far and then stops - invariably at a different place.
I then have to kill LMS scanner in Task Manager.
