I installed SP 7.4 on a few machines and found it very soft. It seemed that somehow it defaulted to a low volume. Once I turned the volume up it seems fine - although I can't compare it to 7.3. Did you have both set at the same volume? (I imagine so, but thought I'd mention it). -- gcurrie -G

I found a bug that was causing a problem writing the settings files for squeezeplay. I'm going to put the fix in later today and that should help with home menu settings and it seems to also help with the connection problems, at least it has for the ones I've been seeing for windows builds of SP.

I find that the only way to get it to work is to: Settings > Choose Player > Click on another player (twice) then from other player Settings > Choose Player > Click on SqueezePlay (twice) Although that doesn't always work.. If I try connect straight away I just get the spinner. -- bonze

I built one for Ubuntu directly from svn source code . It is much better it remembers setting's and connects to your server. But it has one big bug no audio playback at all on Ubuntu 8.10 So it can be a desktop controller in this stage of development. Up down arrow' still don't work. -- Mny

I have to say, the Encore wallpaper looks much better on my LCD monitor than it does on the Squeezebox Touch. It's a night and day difference. It's blueish and washed out on the Touch (no matter the brightness level), but actually is teal on the computer monitor, with much better contrast. --
