Crikey that was fast! Have just tried the 12/09 nightly and the display
now works correctly when UNC paths are in use. Many thanks.

... bump?
I can't believe I'm the only person who feels this is a problem. With
the size of the SB display, Browse Music Folder has become really
irritating to use. I did download the latest nightly (7th Dec) to check
that it wasn't just a temporary glitch, but the behaviour stays the
same.
As I did a clean install of 7 very recently my version of SC7 does not
run as a service anymore, but runs as an application instead (this on

Hmmm.. I'm having lots of trouble with UNC paths versus mapped drives in
SC7 and I guess that this is probably related... except my probelm seems

Clive,
I've recently noticed (in SC 7.0) that when browsing the music folder,
the Squeezebox display now shows the full pathname rather than just the
last part of it. (For example, whereas before it might have just
displayed The Wall, it now displays
\\musicserver\e-drive\FLAC.N-Z\Pink
Thanks to everyone for their input. I note that others have reported not
seeing this on Linux, so it looks like a Windows-specific thing.

OK, I've got to the bottom of this.
As I mentioned previously, my top-level music folder contains a pair of
shortcuts to the actual locations, because the library is split across
two disks.
Those shortcuts were set up as UNCs (eg.
*\\musicserver\cdrive\FLAC.A-M*). I replaced them with shortcuts
Just in case it helps, i'm running xp pro and SC 7.0 and I don't see
this, when browsing music folder I just get the filename, so for

It's very likely limited to UNC paths. If you're using a drive letter or a
non-Windows system, you should be fine.

I asked this question in the General Discussuion forum, but got no
response. So then I emailed Slim Devices tech support, and they
informed me that because I'm running SqueezeCenter 7.0, which is in
beta, there is no support other than through the forums. So now I'll
try again here on the beta
