Fixed! I'm not sure why, but originally a lot of the mp3s in my music folder had different permissions (including many that were executable!). So I changed the permissions to 644 (user read & write, group & other read only). That did it! -- mmcmonster

Hmmm That didn't do it either. I removed all the playlists and put all the mp3 files back and cleared and rescanned the library and the duplicate albums showed up again. I have no playlists, just the mp3 files and .jpg files. I'm at a loss at this point. :-( -- mmcmonster --

Okay. I narrowed it down. I remove all artists from my music collection except for one that had duplicate albums mentioned. I also removed all the playlists. I then cleared the library and rebuilt everything from scratch. Everything was fine, and there were no duplicate albums. I then re-add

I'm still having the problem. I'm pretty sure I stripped out all the id3v1 tags, and cleared the database and rescanned. I still have some albums duplicated. I spot-checked a few of the mp3s that are duplicated and they don't have ID3v1 tags, and they look otherwise fine. Any ideas? -- mmcm

Thanks for the reply. I don't know what MusicIP is. Actually, I went to their website (http://www.musicip.com/) and still have no idea what their applications do. :-) I've been using easytag to manually edit the ID3 tags. I didn't realize that squeezecenter may have problems with ID3v1 tags.

(I had posted this message to the Linux/Unix forum, but figure it belongs here, since I am running the 7.1 nightly build.) I recently began a project of retagging all my mp3s using easytag (http://easytag.sourceforge.net/). I've noticed that many songs get added to the database twice, creating a
