I noticed a similar thing this afternoon. I had just turned my PC on - hadn't
logged in, service runs automatically.
I was trying to play a FLAC file, but the playback was choppy. I looked at my

I often had to do a factory reset after firmware upgrades to have it work
smoothly again. Unplug the device, press and hold the ADD button while
plugging it in again. You'll have to reconfigure the network.

Firmware version 61 makes my Squeezebox2 very slow and unresponsive.
It's similar to a computer whose cpu is 100% taxed. Besides the UI
being very slow, the Squeezebox2 gets so bogged down that the music it
plays is extremely choppy.
Reverting back to version 60 makes everything ok again.

I have just checked in squeezebox2/3 fw61, and this will be in tomorrows
(3 Sep) nightlies.
The changes include:
