Last night my Maxtor OneTouch 500 music disk gave up the ghost. So it is
most probable that all the problematic tag stuff I experienced was due
to the disk beginning to fail. Only SlimServer scanning was affected
originally because it is the only thing on the PC that uses the disk to

Anyway. Dan Sully (Slim Perl Commando) has been into my machine and
sorted it out, but hasn't sad what the problem was so I don't know
whether it was of somthing stupid in my set up or a bug with the new
scanner set up.
The db scanning flag was stu

I'm anyway "cleaning" up the disk from .cue and multiple .m3u files,
possibly the scan will go "the whole way" when I'm ready with that.

OK, so SlimServer should report back that scanning has ended? I don't
think I have ever seen that, but I run 6.3.1 - has it always done
that?
I guess then my scan has usually crashed very near the end, I don't
miss any music I want to listen to...

The scanning hasn't completed (lots of tracks are missing) and the web
interface reports that scanning is occurring.
scanner.exe does not appear in processes though (should it?).
Yes - which would indicate that the scanner process has crashed.

Cheers Triode.

I can't initiate the scan from the command line as I can't stop it. It
runs as soon as Slimserver starts
If there is no scanner process is it really scanning or has it just
failed to register it completes?
Seems to me that the first question should be whether there is enough
memory - does task manager show free memory while scanning? Second
question is then whether you can manually start a scan from

Well then, 6.51 has been scanning for almost two days now.
6.2/3 used to take about 1.5 hours on this laptop.

It is? But it never finishes ad scanner.exe is not visible in processes
anymore :-(. If it wasn't that the Maxtor music drive was so easily
visible and navigable in My Computer I'd be wondering it was having

SlimServer is still reporting it's scanning 20 hours after it forst

I've enabled the debug options but the log file is blank.
Although both slim.exe and slimtray.exe are running the scanner is not.

Seven hours later and 6.5 is still scanning my music library. 6.2/.3
used to take under two hours from afresh.
I have a feeling my laptop might be pegging out. :-(
