I don' think people should be encouraged to install 7.6 beta just to
fix the scanner problems. SBS 7.6 is far from ready to be used by the
typical SB user.

What incompatibilities are you afraid off? Right now the audio part is almost
identical to 7.6 (scanning, db management, playback etc.)
I don't really know - I haven't been following the LMS thread, as I'm not
particularly interested in pictures/video streaming. I was assuming that there

which leads to the logitech homepage.
what gives?
also, why all this attention on LMS when 7.6 isn't out yet?

Seems like downloads.slimdevices.com
thx Erland.
personally, i think they should just put 7.6 out now, right now, and if
there are any critical bugs, fix em quick, then move on to LMS.
i think it is a big mistake to even consider skipping 7.6 and going
straight to LMS. BIG MISTAKE.

We planned to release this month. But that's been the plan weeks ago.
The next plan might be 7.6 gets highest priority again (which it
obviously doesn't right now). If we can't make it this summer, then I
doubt we'll see a pure SBS 7.6 any more.
LMS = 7.7?
Surely it warrents a major version number update?

We rather thought of making it 10, as it's larger than 7, and we're scared of
anything with an 8 in it. Would still leave the 9... forget. 7.7 is quite ok,
isn't it?

if Phil and I agree, it usually is b/c its true.
in any case, does anyone know of a specific, citable reason[s] why 7.6
couldn't be released today, or say, wed next week?
i mean honestly, this thing's been baking longer than the Sahara. why
not put it out now so you don't bake any bad stuff

Because the one full-time developer on the project is currently working
on LMS. I figure we may as well help him out rather than twiddle our
thumbs. The sooner he gets all the silly multi-media junk done for
It seems quite significantly different. Could argue that 7.6 should really
be 8.0 (some significant changes), and LMS is effectively a new product
(that's going to have a lot of incompatibilities?), that it should be LMS
v1.0.

Thank you Jim, well said. Except for the one which is two :-P
