I spent some times trying to compile trunk (r43573) with cycles+cuda
support and was unable to compile .cubin files using CUDA toolkit 4.0,
compilation always fails on sm_13 with out of memory error (with
either scons or cmake/nmake or cmake/visualstudio)

Same here on windows 7, I opened the system manager to check the
memory use and indeed it seems to surpass 2 GB. I am not sure this can
be fixed. Inevitably the cycles kernel will get bigger and will
require more RAM. It's interesting though that 4.1 can bite through

Hmmm...seeing in your specs that your system has 6 GB. That is indeed
strange. The importance sampling that got in recently or one of the
fixes on it may be the culprit.
