I don't think 3ds's editable poly is a good reference. It won't make
sense to have mesh tools accessible through a modifier like in 3ds
max. I think it's better to utilize blenders current mesh tools in
combination with some sort of mesh layers (maybe as a modifier).
I guess what you're really is
I'm glad to see that you're interesting in improving the viewport,
especially since you did such an awesome job last year. :)
Personally I think (and I know that many other users agree) that speed
should be the number one priority. Yes, there are many fancy features
that would be good to have,
I don't think the cycles branch have been synced with trunk yet so it's
probably still 2.59

Hi
I did some more
I'm not a coder, but I guess one issue is to determine weather a
branch is stable or not, and to know if it have been properly tested.
Why don't do this in a more systematic, 'official' way than before:
When a branch is getting near completion:
1. Set up a dedicated bug tracker for the branch,
The displaying of models/textures in the viewport might be the most
confusing area in Blender (After five years of using blender I'm still
not sure if I get it...).
Right now we have:
1. Viewport Shading (Textured, Solid, Wire, Bounding Box).
2. Shading setting in the n-panel (GLSL,
possibility for us then to have some objects in
wireframe and others
textured in 3D view, which is what has beenrequested.

It's confusing indeed. However most uses don't have a clue what FFMPEG
is, which makes it confusing to only have FFMPEG. An alternative might
be to merge the encoding and the output panel and have all file format
in the same list...

There's a thread about it over at blenderartists.org, that you might want to
take a look at. There are at least a couple of things mentioned there that
are not on your list.
