[Bf-committers] VSE caching

2015-03-23 Thread Thomas Volkmann
Hi, I just wanted to ask if something is wrong with the way the seqence-editor uses its cache. Basically I have a 1920*1080 exr seqence that I can't get to playback at 25fps although I have more than sufficient memory and I have set it in the prefs. Playing back the same sequence as jpg is no pro

Hmmm...it sounds like it's just way more expensive to process the files in this case since they are floats. Generally there are some non-obvious tricks to make the sequencer play back better such as disabling anti aliasing and making sure the target resolution is close to the footage resolution.

Does the sequence editor in it's current state do any caching during playback? If you're editing exr sequences it might really make sense to work with jpg proxies. On Mon, 2015-03-23 at 12:05 +0100, Antony Riakiotakis wrote: > Hmmm...it sounds like it's just way more expensive to process the > fil

In fact it would be quite nice if the memory cap came in percentage of total memory instead of megabytes. 2015-04-07 17:24 GMT-04:00 Knapp : > On Mon, Mar 23, 2015 at 3:36 PM, Bassam Kurdali wrote: > > > Does the sequence editor in it's current state do any caching during > > playback? > > If y

I've had this question for years and never bothered to ask it. Is the VSE cache memory limit tied to or separate from the undo memory limit in the editing portion of the user prefs? It's not very clear from the wiki docs or from tooltips. On 04/07/2015 02:26 PM, David Fenner wrote: > In fact it
