citation template in the template editor. It does not allow you to

The Single Column was the hint I was looking for. It's not quite the
same as what we had (which was basically a Mac Preview window where I
could read the whole pdf if I was so motivated), but this is good
enough, and matches more with what BibDesk is (i.e. not a file
reader!) Thanks!
