Ok, great Christiaan. I guess that would deserve fixing in the next nightly.
I suggest 3 changes to make everything consistent:
- "View -> Group Field -> No Group Field"
- "View -> Group Field -> Add Group Field..."
- "View -> Group Field -> Remove Group Field..."

OK, I found the problem. There's another item with the same name in the View >
Group Field submenu that's stealing the shortcut. That's one of the problems
with identifying items by title rather than action.

But that's irrelevant, because system defined shortcuts should also be assigned
when the menu item is not active, at least that's what I see for other items,

In this case it is not greyed out and the menu item is usable, only
the shortcut doesn't show up when the status bar is hidden.

Admitted, it is confusing that shortcuts don't show up while the menu command
is clearly visible, albeit greyed out (inactive).
I'm not sure this to be a bug, but others knowing Objective C and Apple's
frameworks and how BibDesk makes use of it better than me should judge on this.

It is very likely not the characters you are using to define the shortcut
causing your difficulties assuming you follow the instructions described here

But what might confuse you is the fact that the shortcut does show up only once
the menu command has become active. Define the shortcut and then open a
publication for editing. The shortcut should now be visible.

"Add Field…", wfm.
Hi,
I want to add a shortcut for Publication -> Add Field… but whatever I enter in
the Keyboard-Pref Pane doesn't work. I tried "Add Field", "Add Field…" and "Add
Field..." -- what do I have to use?
