You're right. My take on the driverless car is it will INCREASE driving.
First the person will have the driverless car take him/her to work, but,
not wanting to pay for parking at the workplace, will send the driverless
car back to its driveway/garage, and then summon it when needed. Has to
They say "...driverless cars don't solve the problem" but of course that
understates the problem by a large margin. The expectation is that
driverless cars will worsen the space problem by making it more palatable
for folks to lengthen their commutes. McMansion time again.
