Based upon everything that I am reading it is name specific. To wit:
".. forwarding rules apply to queries for all domain names that end in the
domain name of the zone."
So it would follow that "example.com" would not get queries for
"reallycool.example.com" if zone forwarding is configured co
We had an issue with forward zones not resolving this morning, resolved by
restarting DNS but prompted me to ask a question I'd been wondering about.
We have multiple zones that we forward to DNS servers we do NOT manage.
The domain names take the form
Example.org
Bar.example.org
Foo.bar.exam

please check contents of managed-keys.bind or viewname.mkeys files in
bind working directory. It can be redirected somewhere else by
managed-keys-directory option.
These files contains state of managed keys of BIND. Its contents can be
analysed by manually or by perl script in contrib/sc
