I got lot's of crashes after upgrading from 9.16.18 to 9.16.19 too. In my case it happened on Linux instead of FreeBSD though. After reporting an issue (#2841) at gitlab.isc.org it turned out that there is a already known problem which ought to be adressed in the August release. The issue is marked as confidential though.
