Andrzej Oleś and I have just added responsive layout support to the
devel branch of BiocStyle. This should make the HTML vignettes produced by
the package work better on small screen sizes like phones & tablets.

As announced previously, the style functions have been updated to the new
formatting in BiocStyle version 2.5.19.
Package maintainers who already use the new style (`latex2`,
`pdf_document2` or `html_document2`) are now encouraged to update their

thank you, good point! As suggested, once I make the transition I will post
a note on the BiocStyle version number implementing it.
