Hi
It is mostly developed and tested on Debian, so i would recommend that.
Although BIRD supports both Linux and BSDs, Linux support is generally
better.

I'm using BIRD 2.0.x on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 and CentOS 7 (both
x86_64) from the EPEL 7 repository (package "bird2", of which I am also
the package maintainer). Stock kernel, thus latest 3.10.0-x.y.z
Dear all,
Thanks,
our system team would like to use RedHat / CentOS. But
Bird support would you mind giving me suggestions if we will use RedHat or
CentOS for installing Bird 2.0.
Thanks a lot.
Isaac.

We use Funtoo with custom 4.4 kernel.

Kernel 4.0+ but we run also on 2.6.38.
GCC or Clang with C11 support (will be needed for new versions).
Use what you prefer, BIRD can be compiled and run almost everywhere including
ARM. (If not, complain, we'll probably try to fix it.)
