The Rock Wren reported earlier by Stan Phippen was still at the Eco-Resource
Centre in Elk Lake at 4:00PM Thursday. Pictures have been forwarded to the OFO
by Barry Kinch. The bird has been present for at least 3 days.
Elk Lake is 65 KM west of New Liskeard which is about 180 KM north of North B
Whereas, a month ago, water birds dominated the birding scene at Presqu'ile
Provincial Park and land birds were scarcely worth a mention, the situation is
now completely reversed. In fact, the four days beginning on April 29 were
regarded by some as the best four consecutive days for land bird

As I haven't seen any postings so far today about the Worm- eating
Warbler reported at High Park, Toronto yesterday I thought I'd report that
I, in the company for most of the time of a very pleasant lady, searched
for the bird in and around the area it was previously found from 6.
Rondeau Daily Report May6/04
Sun and strong south winds brought in a few new arrivals today, though total
bird numbers remained low. Visitors had to work hard for their sightings. The
Prothonotary Warblers finally arrived with one seen on Bennett Rd at 2pm and
another (the same one?) on Spic
Today there was a reverse migration off the tip of Fish Point from 7am-11am
with many species including hundreds of WARBLERS. Also the first WORM-EATING
WARBLER was banded today by the PIBO.
Highlights: Four SANDHILL CRANES at Fox Pond. GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER,
BLUE-WINGED, PROTHONOTARY, ORANGE-CR
Today, after a wonderful day of birding at Rondeau, I tried for the Ruff at
the Blenheim Sewage Lagoons. Unfortunately, it appears the Ruff has left,
but a new European has taken its place. When I arrived around 1 pm, along
with Len Jones, another Birder (I apologize, her name escapes me at the
At 12:40 this afternoon I observed a Sandhill Crane flying over Upper Canada
College at St. Clair and Avenue Rd, in Toronto. It was not particularly high up
and it was heading due west.
Upper Canada College is located just north on St Clair on Avenue road in
midtown Toronto.
