Hi Birders:
Our first tree swallow of the season was resting on the wires adjacent to the
road this
morning at 8 am (last year's arrival was Apr. 9). While I was watching the
swallow a
male northern harrier flew over the road. Also new this morning is a belted
kingfisher
over Big Creek.
There is a small roost of BCNH's along the Don River that is visible from the
Queen St. overpass of the DVP (Queen St. between River and Broadview).
Stand on the north side of the bridge directly over the river and look at a

There was a nice flight of Snow Geese this afternoon around 12:30 p.m. over
the city of Cornwall. I've counted roughly 2,200 birds in flocks of mixed

I was able to find 1 Greater Snow Goose White phase amongst 200/250 Canada

there at 2:45 pm. this afternoon.

It was too nice a day to stay home so we drove from Ottawa down to the
Seaway Valley.
We were treated to a spectacular sight as we drove Hwy #2 from Morrisburg
to Lancaster.
We stopped at the Upper Canada Bird Sanctuary to see what was there. A few
Canada Geese were around but not much
An OSPREY was seen by the North Leeds Birders at the Sewage Lagoon beside
DuPont at 2PM Wed., March 30. It enjoyed successful ice-fishing. Also,
three Great Blue Herons were seen here.
Song Sparrows were singing in several places today. A Carolina Wren was
seen, and frequently heard
There were several Committees of Turkey Vultures flying north-east over the
Town of Essex in southern Essex County today. I saw at least 6 Committees of 6
or 8 vultures each fly over the Essex Civic Centre just north of Highway 3 in
Essex. More could be seen off in the distance to the
