Point Pelee Report for May 21 (Saturday)
For the first time this spring, the woods at Point Pelee are active with
bird song -- Indigo Buntings, Scarlet Tanagers, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks,
Eastern Wood=Pewees and Ovenbirds. Migrants are few, but there certainly
are some new arrivals including s

A Piping Plover discovered earlier in the morning at beach one by Melissa
Rose was relocated by us at 10:15am. Shortly afterwards, the bird flew south
on the beach towards the viewing stand.
The way to Presqu'ile Provincial Park is well-signed south of Brighton. A

Last night over ten people showed up at the Visitor's Centre and were not
disappointed to hear both the chuck-will's-widow and a whip-poor-will call
between 9:20pm and 9:40pm.
This morning, a male and female prothonotary warbler were seen on the Tulip

A drake Eurasion Wigeon continues to be seen in the cell closest to the
lake. The bird was found late yesterday by Barry Cherriere, and flew in
again whilst we were there at 1pm today, along with 3 American Wigeon.
Directions: Take 50 Road exit, off the Q.E.W. in Grimsby. Go north
The Hooded Oriole could not be found today ! but with only my self and
one other looking we might have mist it and it might still be in the
area
