Hello Ontbirders
At 3:30 pm today (Oct 19th) there were large numbers of geese and gulls in
the fields immediately north of the Park 'n' Ride off Brophy Road just west
of Hwy 416.
Numbers were as follows;
5000-6000 Canada Geese
This included a small flock of 5 Cackling-type Geese, which were clear

Seeing the Black-tailed Gull is feasible at least from eastern Ontario. I
left my house 16 kms. from the Quebec border at 11:30 a.m. and was home at
8:00 p.m. See below for direct

Black Vulture
On October 17th at about 3:15pm saw a Boreal Chickadee on my bird bath.
Looks like he came for the water.
I live in Dutton, Ontario, township of Dutton/Dunwich, Elgin County. Take
401 West, get off at Currie Road, turn right, and you arrive right in
Dutton. 30 minutes from London, Ontario.

At 5:20PM on Oct 19th there was a H. Godwit on the west side of the bridge,
north of Whitby harbour. It had just flown in while I was there and was the
only shorebird in sight. Couldn't find a Cackling Goose at Sobey's or with
the 1,000 Canada Geese on Hall's Rd.

After 3 excellent days of viewing migrating raptors at Cranberry Marsh RW we
succumbed to a 2-day lull; 63 hawks on Oct.18--42 Turkey Vultures, 12
