While opportunistically pishing for Song or Swamp Sparrows (no success), a
female Common Yellowthroat responded with call notes, then appeared briefly
among Red Osier Dogwoods on the banks of Laurel Creek. It was seen by my
son, Ben, and myself as we participated in the Kitchener CBC.
The locatio
The 21st annual Cedar Creek CBC (central Essex County) was held on
December 16 under very mild conditions. Tentative results are 99
species and 58,781 individuals.
Four new species were recorded for the count (bringing the all-time
total to 151 species):
White-fronted Goose (4) at Jack
While birding Tiny Township today as part of the Wye Marsh CBC, Dorothy
Harper, Colin Harper, Susan Hirst and I found a female King Eider. The
bird was actively feeding at the shoreline and at times would walk up
onto the beach. Although lighting was poor, we had excellent views and
were able to
Mark Cranford just called, asking me to post a flock of seven, yellow rump
warblers. They are chirping like mad and moving along the beach at the end of
Huronatario St. at Lake Ontario, in Mississauga.

Hi Everyone
Yesterday, Dec.15th, I spent a few hours in the afternoon birding the Ottawa
River between Britannia and Constance Bay. The viewing conditions were
excellent and the following observations were made. Off the boat launch at
