I have seen few reports of Common Nighthawks this year and had little luck
myself when travelling around. In Toronto, it took about two weeks later
than usual, but I am finally hearing on a consistent basis, Nighthawks
calling from College street and McCaul (one block west of

the location of rare or endangered birds on breeding territories. None
of us wants to be responsible for causing a rare bird to abandon a nest
or breeding attempt because of disturbance.

Fledged young birds of various kinds are all over Presqu'ile Provincial
Park these days, and the families are dispersing after raising their
broods. The result is that birds are showing up in places where they
have not been seen for weeks.
