Black Vulture
Today at 5:30 there was one Greater White-fronted Goose in amongst all
the Canada Geese at the mouth of the river at Kelso Beach Park in Owen
Sound.
Kelso Beach Park is on 2nd Ave. west on the west side of Georgian Bay in
Owen Sound.

Prompted by an e-mail from Lorena Campbell, I birded the north part of York
Region this morning with Mike Van den Tillaart. Our first stop was at Lorena's
feeders in Willow Beach where a flock of 35-40 EVENING GROBSBEAKS and 100+ PINE
SISKINS showed up in her front yard Friday. Mike and I miss
While we were the last few watching the Ibis just before dusk, it took off and
flew to the east. We don't know if it ha ddone so last night. I flew out of
sight into the larger Cootes Paradise marsh in the area of the infamous
"Willows" so if it ain't at the Dundas Hydro Ponds tomorrow, try the

We left the pond this morning around 11:30, as the bird had just been spooked
by a Sharp shinned hawk., and this put the bird out of my cameras range., but
it was still viewable on the far side of the pond. I did have one foot and leg
down in the mud almost up to my knee, so photographers bewar

Early afternoon Saturday Oct.20/07 my uncle and I observed a dark Ibis flying
from west to east through the center of Hillman Marsh. When the bird arrived to

Just to give an update that the bird was still there when I viewed it from
1:10 - 1:30 p.m.. It flew around spooked by something with a number of
shorebirds and then settled into a far corner but still could be seen well.

This morning at 11:30 the Hudsonian Godwit was still present at
Coot's Pond on the Darlington Nuclear Waterfront Trail. When we
arrived it was not easily seen as it was feeding close the south edge
of the pond. It moved out into better view after a few minutes. It

were in the crowd of Canadas at Reesor Pond today. The pond
lies just North of Hwy 407 on Reesor Road in Markham.

I have heard word that the Ibis has been seen by many out in the Hydro Ponds
this morning. The American White Pelican is also flying around the Dundas
Marsh for your viewing pleasure.

It might be safer to call this bird a Plegadis Ibis but the bird was
present till at least 9am Saturday. I saw enough - red eyes and golden
wings (sort of) to call it a White-faced Ibis.
