Between waves of rain showers I barely managed a quick walk out the end
of the peninsula. Highlights included 6 Common Loons, 107 Red-necked Grebes
and 13 Horned Grebes ... also two Bonaparte's Gull flying nne about 100

This afternoon I drove to the "Road Closed" sign on the 10th Line of
Bradford-West Gwillimbury east of Highway 11. In the wet field on the right
just past the last house going east there was a large gathering of waterfowl -
mostly Mallards and Can. Geese with smaller groups of Lesser Scaup, Blue

Egrets, Cormorants, Eastern Phoebe, Yellow-rumped Warblers, Eastern Bluebirds,

Oblivious to the sounds of the construction of the new
Presqu'ile Marsh Boardwalk, just 30 feet away, two
male great egrets put on displays and battled for
