After a visit to the Jack Pine Trail late today I dropped
by the Moodie Drive Quarry Pond. Tony Beck was already there and informed me
the American White Pelican was on the (its usual) island just hidden in the
tall grass. I had a look through his scope and
There was a small flush of warblers etc. at the T J Dolan Natural Area in
Stratford this morning. On the north side of the Avon river I saw

An pre-dusk walk Thursday evening along the East Bank of 16 Mile
Creek south of Upper Middle was accented by the sounds of Nighthawks.
At least 4 were seen catching insects mid-air. One was seen doing
acrobatic dives.
Directions- trailhead and Parking for the trail is on Old Upper
Middle
Last night and this morning I observed two colour-banded juvenile
Caspian Terns on Snake Island, near Kingston. One bird carred a white
band with black characters, ALA. It had been banded at Gull Island at
Presqu'Ile Provincial Park last month by a CWS banding crew. The other

Spent an hour or so at the sewage lagoon and for people considering going
this weekend there were very few shorebirds. Although the second pond was
abit low I only found 10 Least Sandpipers there and a few Yellowlegs. The
only other shorebirds I saw was 1 Solitary & 1 Spotted Sandpiper and about

A beautiful morning in Ottawa with the great company of Bob Cermak, Richard
Waters, Jan Slumkoski and Bernie Ladouceur resulted in quite a few great August
birds. The ridge was a bit quieter this morning than normal but a Wilson's

and while in the area we decided to do some Bruce Peninsula birding and despite
