Today Margaret Liubavicius, Ian Cannell and I did some Passerine birding as
apposed to the Lake Watch done by others today an among the many migrating
birds was a Dickcissel flying west this morning.
Other birds in numbers seen flying west were 2000+ Red-breasted Mergansers,

Dropped by the KFN property this afternoon to see the snowy owl. Bird
appeared to be healthy and active. See link for image, others at my

Hello ONTBirders,
I checked out the Moodie Drive quarry pond at around noon. There were generous
numbers of GREATER SCAUP and RUDDY DUCKS fairly close to shore. A single male
RING-NECKED DUCK was also present, as well as about forty HOODED MERGANSERS
(males and females).
Later on I checke

This afternoon at about 3:00 I found nine Snow Geese in a field along
Eagleson Road near Brownlee Road. They were in two small groups fairly
close together: one group of four white morph adults, and one group of five

A rising BP and a medium to strong NW-W wind suggested a reasonable flight
along the lakefront, but there were no thermals. Among the low-flying raptors
were 5 ROUGH-LEGGEDS---SEE TABLE BELOW.
Highlight non-raptors--a possible Red-throated loon; Am. coot, Common
Goldeneye, marsh wren, swam

Rotary Park .

Rotary Park is found by going sout
Snowy owl spotted sitting at the end of the first point that juts out
south into lake Ontario at the second gate. It is 1:05 as I type this
from the spit, with the bird in view. It was spotted by two gentlemen
who were nice enough to point it out to me. The bird is heavily
barred and look
The 2 ridiculously tame Purple Sandpipers are still foraging in the extreme
SW corner of Cobourg harbour, out of the cold NW wind. Of the 5 Dunlin
nearby, 2 are unfortunately quite badly oiled.
The 3 Brant - one rather worn adult and 2 much more dapper young - have been
grazing on the lawns around
11:45 a.m. Sunday - Jim Pawlicki just called to report an adult Black-legged
Kittiwake right along the shore at LaSalle Park in Buffalo. This park is
about 1/2 mile south of the Peace Bridge and can be accessed via the Porter
Avenue exit from I-190. Ontario birders probably would not be able to s
