Merlin: One at Mew Lake on March 15.
Wild Turkey: still two birds in Two Rivers area
this week. This is the first known case of this species
spending the winter in Algonquin.

For those wanting to know, the Eurasion Wigeon discovered earlier this week by
Clive Goodwin has reappeared (as of 10:00 am) just west of the Calf pasture
where Lilac Lane and Bayshore Drive meet in Presquile Bay.

Heedless of the vernal equinox, Old Man Winter has reasserted himself in this
area, refreezing the flooded fields that held such a bonanza of waterfowl
earlier in the week. The good news is that Hochreiter Road is now totally

Further to the Ontbirds post of earlier today there are a pair of Bluebirds at
the eastern end of Armstrong Rd in Ottawa as at 4.45 pm today. They are in the
field east of the derelict farm on the north side.

Hi all,
There has been a significant build-up of this mixed flock over the past
week. Today I estimated it at well over 200 birds with a third being blue morph
birds. I saw at least 2 blue Ross's and 10+ white Ross's. To-day the flock took
to the air from corn fields to the south,
My wife called me at work to say the Great Blue Herons are flying over the
house again (Richmond Hill Leslie and Major Mac). We drove up to the York
Center, Leslie North of Elgin Mills after dinner, the low sun
provided fantastic lighting on the nesting Herons high in the leaf-less trees.
