An Australian EASTERN ROSELLA, reported just moments ago, obviously an escapee
from someone's home or private collection, was the most exciting bird of the
day for a Belleville Wright
Hi all
The water is open at Burnside pit and today there were, along with the
thousands of Canada Geese, 1 White-fronted Goose, 2 pairs Snow Goose, at least
4 male and 2 female Northern Pintails, Scaup, Bufflehead, Common Merganser,
Common Goldeneye.
At Richmond lagoons, the water level is

Today Ian Cannell, Margaret Liubavicius and I birded the Toronto Islands to
check on the migration progress down there and we were not disappointed at all.

[Wednesday, April 8, BOS Meeting at 7
Hi Everyone
Today, April 2nd there were 2 Swamp Sparrows out and about in the creek area
behind my house. Amongst the 1000s of Canada Geese on the Carp River, a
Cackling Goose was right out in the open. I got great looks at this bird and
could easily determine the size was much different.
For birders at Presqu'ile Provincial Park, as elsewhere, this is an
exciting time of year, with new arrivals appearing every day, and lots
of bird song, some of which is enjoyed even by those who no longer have
the full range of frequencies in their hearing.

On 31 March, Dave Moore, Cliff Hodder and I visited Pigeon, Snake and
Salmon Islands by boat, 3-10 miles sw offshore from Kingston. We flushed
1 Snowy Owl from Pigeon Island, 3 Snowies from Snake Island and 2 from
Salmon. There were no Herring Gulls on any of the

Store area this week.
Spruce Grouse: Male at Spruce Bog Boardwalk, about
30 m north of the register box on March 29.
Gray Jay: Opeongo Road, and Spruce Bog.
Boreal Chickadee: One at Spruce Bog Boardwalk
