At 3:30pm I ran into a Western Kingbird perched on the wires along County
road 1 and its intersection with Palmer Burris Road. I have been along this
road several times in the last month and this is the first time I have seen
this bird.

This has been a week of steady but not spectacular fall bird migration
at Presqu'ile Provincial Park. Many birds, especially insectivorous
ones, have left, but many more have not yet arrived, so there will be
sufficient activity to captivate the Trent University ornithology class

This morning Kevin Dance and I birded Thicksons Woods and the Corbit Creek
Wetland area and had a nice diversity of fall birds. At the wetland we had
Northern Parula, Black-throated Green, Mourning, Yellow-rumps, Common
Yellowthroat, juvenile Sapsuckers, Olive-sided, Willow, and Trails

Lots of land bird activity this morning at Britannia Conservation Area/Mud
Lake. Along the "Ridge" there was a good concentration of warblers, mainly

Yesterday evening Ben and I birded along the Ottawa River and observed 8 Lesser
Black-backed Gulls mainly at Deschenes Rapids, 5 ad., 2 3rd.year and 1 first
winter. There were also 250+ Great Black-backed Gulls, mainly adults. At
