At 2:30 PM this afternoon, Jean and I observed one Brant feeding from the
grass with a mixed flock of Canada Geese and geese hybrids. All were seen
at Jones Beach in Port Weller, in the grassy area just west of the parking
area.
Walking to the lookout on the east spit we observed 2 Red-throat

My Dad and I were out for a couple of hours this afternoon. We had some good
birds at Andrew Haydon Park in Ottawa. There were about 2500 Herring Gulls
roosting on the river at 3pm. Amongst them was a first winter Thayer's Gull, a
first winter Iceland Gull and an adult Lesser
As of 1:30pm today the Ash-throated Flycatcher has not been refound despite
careful searching in the tip area, some of West Beach and Delaurier.
The original observer was Henrietta O'Neill (the tram driver) and then
refound and identified by Alan Wormington and Kevin McLaughlin yesterday

The Brants were still at Colonel Sam Smith park this afternoon. They were in
the east bay on the far east side. There may have been as many as 6 (unless
3 flew without our seeing them).
North of the pond were two pairs of Shovelers and a pair of Green Winged

Some 15 OFO members enjoyed a mostly sunny but blustery day. Standing at
Hawk Cliff in the brisk southwest winds proved fruitful only that we saw an
adult Golden Eagle at close range just over the treetops above us, as it
coursed along tacking into the wind. The only other hawks we saw

On Arowhon Road near Camp Ahmek, we spotted a male SPRUCE GROUSE collecting
grit on the side of the road. Along various portions of the Mizzy Lake trail
from Wolf Howl Pond to West Rose Lake we had about 6

Black Vulture
Birded the "Owl Woods" area for a couple of hours this morning. Located 1
Barred Owl; 1 Northern Saw-whet owl and 1 Long Eared. Remains of a
Saw-whet were seen in the Jack pine plantation of owl woods. Good numbers
of Red-Tailed hawks throughout the island.

yesterday morning there has been quite a large movement of SANDHILL
CRANES along the Lake Huron Shoreline through Kettle Point and down
the Lake beyond the Forest Glen Herb Farm down Glendale Beach Rd.

The 3 Brant continued at Col. Sam Smith this a.m., feeding at the shoreline,
in the first little cove east of the main beach.

today at 10.30am the lone brant was still there at the pt. glasgow marina. from
401 go through rodney to pt glasgow on furnival rd. continue to end of road
where you will see a sign to turn right to the marina. the brant is on the left
side of the marina on the edge of the parking
lot.
Today at about noon, I saw a first-winter Iceland Gull in with the Herring and
Ring-billed Gulls by the shore at beach 1 at Presqu'ile Provincial Park. The
way to Presqu'ile is well-signed from the Brighton turn-off (509) on the 401.
