It was a beautiful day for birding but bloody cold!
With luck and another birder we saw the Boreal Owl. Then a Saw Whet giving
nice views. We did not luck out and see the Long-eared and Short-eared owls.
We went by the KFN to see the resident Snowy.

During the Fisherville CBC today Bill Smith and I found a flock of 50
Lapland Longspur SW of Hagersville. The birds were in fields on both
sides of Concession 9, approximately 500-750 m west of Cheapside Rd.

Not to beat a dead horse, but the Yellow-throated Warbler has survived the
cold weather so far and was present at Bronte harbour again today. It gave
fleeting yet incredibly good close looks to any birder looking in the right
rock crevace at the right time.

The male Harlequin and two females were feeding south of Rhododendron Park in
Mississauga this morning just before noon. There are also Trumpeters tagged
E90 and O38 in the bay with the usual collection of mallards, black ducks,
gadwalls, mergansers, buffleheads, Canada geese and gulls. There a

It was a bit shocking that we saw absolutely no other birders this morning.
Perhaps it was the bitter cold and light snow or perhaps birders were
"hung-over" from yesterday's birding.

Today I found two snowy owls in the area of Linwood. The first one was heavily
barred and was located just north-east of the corner of Hwy 86 and sideroad 17
and the second one was almost entirely white and was found on the east side of
Hwy 12 just north of 6th line.
