A single WHIMBREL was seen at Owen Point tonight by Maureen Riggs and I. Most
of the shorebirds posted earlier were still about the beach tonight including
the 4 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS not SHORT-BILLED SANDPIPERS as previously
posted.lol!

Late this afternoon [Aug 18] we birded the Mitchell lagoons from about
5:00 to 6:00 p.m. All of the species mentioned by the two posts this
morning were still present including the birds of greatest interest:
Hudsonian Godwit, Marbled Godwit, Red-necked Phalarope, Baird's
Sandpipers and White-r
Today at 5 P.M. there were three Great Egrets at the Moodie Dr. quarry pond. I
was wondering when they would put in an appearance. Also seen were my first in
awhile American Wigeon (1 male, 2 females), a pair of Gadwall and the usual
assortment of regular ducks.

Shorebird numbers and diversity continue to increase in the park today with a
highlight of 3 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS. Also seen today were 5 BLACK-BELLIED
PLOVERS, 3 KILLDEER, 20+ SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 4 SPOTTED SANDPIPERS, 2 SOLITARY
SANDPIPERS (constructed wetland), 13 L

Lots of folks out today to check out the godwits here in Mitchell.
Both birds were still present right where they were yesterday.
Other good birds this morning including:
- Red-necked Phalarope(1)
- American Golden Plover (3)
- Black Bellied Plover (2)
- Stilt Sandpiper (1)
- Baird's Sa
Thanks Everyone for your information. I released the bird in Kitchener at
Weber & Victoria where there were a pair of birds . Lots of flat roofed
buildings there and I also saw chimney swifts.

Hey birders,
This morning between 7 and 8am both Godwits were still present at the Mitchell
(West Perth Sewage Lagoons. Also there were Pectorals, Spotted, Semi-palmated,
Least, and Baird Sandpipers, both yellowlegs, Short-billed Dowitcher,
Black-bellied and Semi-palmated Plovers, and Kildeer.
