Hello Birders,
On Monday, November 8 Ross Wood found a Hooded Oriole at a remote location
on Long Point. The bird was observed for a couple of hours by four other
lucky observers and has not been refound since. It appears to be a
second-year male, possibly of the western subspecies group
Some may know this already.
Sunday morning, November 7, 2010, Reta Hall passed away at the Mindemoya
Hospital. Reta, along with her husband, Steve Hall, and the Friends of
Misery Bay, hosted groups and individuals to the Sharp-tailed Grouse lek on
Manitoulin Island at the Gore Bay Airport.
When I left at 3pm the sparrow had not been refound by several birders after a
few hours of searching and waiting. Good luck to others
The Waterdown Rona is at 52 Dundas St. E. There are a couple of paths ( behind
the Rona and Walmart ) going down to the pond area. Apparently Monday

Birders,
Three adult male Barrow's Goldeneye were present at the bottom end of the
rapids at Strathcona Park at 4:30 pm this evening. Also present were roughly
40 Common Goldeneye. I have yet to tease out a female Barrow's at this
location this fall.
Good birding.

Directions
Despite unfavourable winds (that's 6 weeks in a row for me in case you're
counting) ... 155 hawks were on the move today, albeit flying high and far to
the north. But thanks to my keen-eyed compatriots we saw:
7 Turkey Vultures
1 Northern Harrier + 1 resident
3 Sharp-shinned Hawks + 1 resident
Good evening!
This afternoon at Humber Bay West off, far off, the gazebo there was a
single Harlequin duck. A nice surprise.
Also present were two Common Goldeneyes, a Long tailed Duck, some Herring
Gulls, and Buffleheads.
Humber Bay West is west of Lakeshore Blvd and Parklawn Road, exit the

Black Vulture
Sorry about the tardiness of the report! I didn't know what these
birds were until today.
While looking for the reported Purple Sandpiper, I spotted these
pretty little birds on the breakwater rocks at the extreme Southwest
corner of Cobourg Harbour.
