I have had 30 plus Common Redpolls visiting my feeders daily and for Christmas
there was a Hoary Redpoll within the flock. I was getting 60 plus American
Goldfinches until the Redpolls showed up and since then they have been reduced
to around 20 birds daily.

After spending Christmas morning at my brother-in-law's, my wife and I stopped
at the feeders near the entrance to St. Johns Conservation Area. A number of
species were visiting the feeders including a male Eastern Towhee.
The feeders can be seen from St. John St.
I was able to refind the Lincoln's Sparrow east of the small circular
skating rink at College Park. It was actively foraging in needle litter
beneath an Austrian Pine at about 1:30 pm today.
Directions: College Park is in the southeast quadrant of Bay and College in
Toronto. The College
Hello Ontario Birders: Sorry for taking so long to update all of you on the
Ontario Winter List for 2010/11. Birds with names like Canestero and
Cinclode were calling me and I just had to go see them.
The current winter list stands at 173 species. That is slightly behind the
182 species
Betsy and I birded the river for several hours today. We started at Goat
Island on the NY side and had 6 LESSER BLACK-BACKED and 2 ICELAND GULLS.
Lots of gulls sitting here.
Our next stop was at the power plants on the Ontario side - the Adam Beck
overlook. This spot was loaded with gulls.

This afternoon I saw an immature Snowy Owl between Bensfort and South
Monaghan, and since there have been so few reported in southern
Ontario this fall/winter, I thought it was post-worthy. The bird was
atop a telephone pole along Scriven Rd., between the 2nd and 3rd
