At least one stunning male Eurasian Widgeon remains at the park. Observed this

Hi
I am sure many noticed that the report received this morning about the Eurasian
Wigeon was dated Mar 29th. There have been no reports of this bird for a week,
so I didn't want anyone to come down to Presqu'ile specifically for this bird
if they didn't notice the date. BUT there are still
The sandhill cranes have arrived and were feeding on the south side of
McPhail Rd. the last two mornings before 8 am and in the evenings. They are
calling loudly during the morning hours.
The snowy owl was last seen 2 days ago. It has been making low passes over
the fields about 3 afternoons
Ontbirders:
The Eurasian Wigeon was seen again today at 2:30 pm in Laurel Creek reservoir.
It was in a small inlet not visible from the bridge or the viewing tower so it
was necessary to walk along the trail past the tower to the edge of the inlet
to view it.
Cheers

Ganaraska Forest today. After paying $6/person at the self-service station, I
parked at the trailhead. From there the map does not make a whole lot of sense
to me (perhaps it works in colour), but basically three ski

I went to Long Point today (April 7) in search of the Eurasian Wigeon, Common
Teal and White-fronted Geese, and came up empty! Would have been three lifers!
Birding in general was excellent, though.

Hannah Maciver l did a thorough search from the west side of the Laurel

If interested there is a male Ring-necked Duck X Greater Scaup Hybrid within

Although many of the waterways in Ottawa remain frozen to one extent or
another, I ventured to the Sarsaparilla Trail in Stony Swamp to look for some
migrating waterfowl. Much of the large pond at the end of this trail is
covered with a paper-thin sheet of ice, but small patches of open water
More snow melted and areas of open water in creeks and rivers
increased this week. However, all lakes and ponds remain frozen
to the shore and there is deep snow everywhere except on
south-facing slopes, clearings and bogs. Some migrants

At about 7: 30 this evening, there was an Eastern Meadowlark perched on a fence
post on 6th line just north of 27th SR, in Erin Township. This is located north
of Hillsburgh and slightly west of Huxley Cemetery.
Not sure if this is early for this species, but it was a welcome sight.

My apologies, my mind must have been elsewhere. There was no Yellow-Crowned
