We had a report of two red-necked phalaropes in a flooded field behind Shoeless
Joe's restaurant in leamington. I'm currently watching them put on a fantastic
show for a photographer.
Shoeless Joe's is located on Seacliff Drive in Leamington east of Erie street

Today, Terrie Smith and I did our second Grassland Survey at Carden. We started
the day at dawn at the Sedge Wren Marsh on Wylie Road, and heard lots of Sora
and Virginia Rails, but no Yellows. There were several singing Sedge Wrens,
many Upland Sandpipers and one Alder Flycatcher. Also on Wylie
I spent a few hrs at the Bay today. Two male scarlet tanagers were present
on the Martin Goodman Trail (or the southern tip of the bay), but they only
made a brief visit.
A female was present on the southwestern part of the bay for 3 hrs and
seemed quite content to hang around and to give great vi

While I was driving east on Hwy 124, two osprey swooped down towards my car,
flying in a westerly direction. There is an active osprey nest on Hwy 124 near
Jones Baseline Rd close to the scene of the “attack”. They flew approximately
one metre over my car.

I was birding yesterday afternoon & was stunned to find an adult American
Avocet
in breeding plumage north east of Beeton, Ontario. I called fellow birder John
Schmelefske who arrived and aggreed with my identification. The bird put on
quite a display of resting, preening & feeding. On a
Several types of warblers seen at Prospect Cemetery in the west end of
Toronto. I none tree I saw the following: Magnolia Warbler, Golden
Winged Warbler, Chestnut sided Warbler, and Blackburnian Warbler. I was
amazed at the colourful display in one tree.

After almost 30 years of having a small waterfall/pond in the backyard it
finally paid off this morning with the sighting of a Common Moorhen walking
about. What a strange bird to have in the yard here in southern Scarborough.
