This afternoon while we were walking around the Brighton Wetland a Least
Bittern flew up from the south-east corner, flew low over the water and
landed out of sight near the middle.

Ben and I spent a good part of today birding Amherst Island. Overall,a good
selection of birds including 3 groups of Brant totaling 212 along the south
shore, 2 male Blue-winged Warblers in the Owl Woods, and a small selection of
shorebirds including 3 Red Knot, 4 Ruddy Turnstone and
In 10.5 hrs. of continuous observations we had a total of 534 Whimbrel
migrating through Col. Sam Smith Park in Toronto today, May 25. There were 8
groups ranging from 1 to 200 birds. This brings our year to date total to

The reported Red-necked Phalarope south of Alliston was no longer present at
4:00. The other shorebirds listed below were still present, but have moved
to a weedy water-soaked field about a kilometre east of their previous
location closer to the 10th sideroad.

If you can fend off the bugs the sparrows were seen on Sunday afternoon
at the southeast corner of the abandoned airfield next to Lake of Two
Rivers.
Access to the airfield is from a parking lot in the Mew Lake campground
entry road off Hwy 60, just west of Lake of Two Rivers.

There is a alternate adult Eared Grebe in the large cell of the Tavistock
Lagoons, associating with Ruddy Ducks. Of the eight or so records we have [here
in Oxford] all have been in sewage lagoons and several have been in this late
May / early June period.

This morning shortly before 11AM, a singing Blue-winged Warbler was at
Britannia\Mud Lake in the open area north of the sumac field. After a couple of
minutes, the bird disappeared (presumably flew out of the back of the bush it
was in). Efforts to relocate it, despite assistance from a couple o

The very distinct streaking down the sides from throat to rump had me
thinking Kirtlands
but not enough yellow beyond the throat and no tail pumping. Winter plumage

Hi All
I arrived at the Visitor Centre this morning, to be greeted by the call of
a Fish Crow. The bird was first found by Mike Nelson. It was calling
from one of the tall trees in the transit loop and was also seen sitting
on the satellite tower at the rear of the Visitor Centre.
