Black Vulture
Hi Everyone
Spent the day shorebird watching at Presqu'ile Provincial Park. The viewing
conditions were great and we observed 14 species of shorebirds. Most of the
shorebirds were between Owen Point and Beach #3. It was hard to estimate the
numbers due to the constant movement of birds but there
45 birders enjoyed the beautiful cool day at Palgrave, Beeton sod farms and
Schomberg.
A total of 65 species were seen.
At Palgrave, highlights included 5 warbler species, Pileated Woodpecker, Purple
Finch, Wild Turkeys, immature Indigo Bunting and Great Crested Flycatcher.
Also, many Red-eyed
On Sunday August 28, about 5 pm, Kim Zbitnew, Bernie Ladouceur and Bob Cermak,
while on the Ottawa Field Naturalists Club Annual Seedathon, had about 200
shorebirds of 12 species at the Casselman Sewage Lagoon. Highlights were 5 Red
Knot, 1 Ruddy Turnstone, 1 Baird's Sandpiper and 7 Sanderling

This afternoon from 1 until we left at 2:30, there was a juvenile Least
Tern at Rattray Marsh. Best seen from the lake side of the marsh. We saw
it flying, fishing, and resting on the mud.
The usual suspects are also there - Great Egret, Green Heron, Night
Herons, Kingfishers, Blue Herons.

Over the past couple of hours we have had both Parasitic and Long-tailed jaeger
along with Black Tern, many Red-necked Phalaropes, Red Knot, Sanderling etc..
