throated and Common Loon, ~10 Horned Grebe on very smooth water making for easy
viewing.Then ended late(~6:30pm) at GB lagoons with 6 Sandhill Crane flying

At 4pm. this afternoon a PARASITIC JAEGER was chasing
Bonapartes Gulls off the Ipperwash Beach at Kettle Point.
Kettle Point is in Lambton County, North of Forest and South of Grand Bend off
Highway 21.

On Friday afternoon, twenty enthusiastic birders gathered at Andrew Haydon Park
for OFO’s “Dusk Birding along the Ottawa River”. After a spectacular week of
stellar birding, mainly east of the Deschenes Rapids, expectations were high

The Razorbill was seen at 3:30 on the river between the Deschennes lookout and
the Deschennes boat ramp, hard to see due to choppy conditions. 2 RT Loon were
present and an unidentified jaeger was seen over the river near the
intersection of Woodroffe Ave. and the Ottawa River parkway. A 3rd Re
The Western Grebe in Ottawa was still present off Deschenes Lookout
this morning at 11:00 a.m. by Colin Bowen & Joseph McFaul. Very
distant, essentially in the middle of the river.
Directions: Deschenes Lookout is located at the western end of the
Ottawa River Parkway.

An immature red-headed woodpecker has been seen in the Uphill area. It has
been quite active around the neighbourhood for the last three days. The
plumage on the body appears to be like that of an adult with a clear chest,
black back and the vibrant white wing and rump patches. This bird lack

The Razorbill was still present off Deschenes Lookout this morning at 8:00am
feeding approximately in the middle of the river. Also present 2 Red-throated
Loon, 1 Common Loon, 1 Horned Grebe, 1 Red-necked Grebe and lots of Common
Goldeneye.

There was a flock of about 200 or 300 Snow Geese near the Moodie Drive quarry
pond this morning around 10:00. When I first saw them they were circling over
the northwest field at the intersection of Barnsdale and Moodie. They then

The cold weather this week has given us a start on winter birding with an
influx of northern species; everything from N. Goshawks to Snow Buntings.
Waterfowl numbers, likewise, have increased. Two hundred Common Loons were off
Amherst Island last Sunday and another 90 were at Prince Edward Poin
