Hi Cheryl. Several of us had the bird again today at about 12:30. It was in
the cedar bushes slightly past the 1200m mark. It fed mostly in the interior
of the cedars. After about 15 minutes it flew up to the top of a tree and

Not an unusual bird for this time of year but it means that 4 warbler species
have now been seen along the trail between Bayfront Park and the Desjardines
Canal..

200 yards south of the canal.

Two birds of interest: a Baltimore Oriole in Thornton (photo evidence dated
December 15, 2011) and a reported Black Vulture. Count numbers were down
significantly, perhaps due to the warmer weather.

Guelph's 45th CBC took place on Sunday, December 18, 2011. Although only
63 species were recorded, which is about average for the last decade,
and well below the high of 70 species, some exceptional records were
obtained. The mild weather obviously contributed to many of the new and
high records
Our Count has many participants and I have not heard from many of the key
counters. Nothing tremendously newsworthy, but here are a few preliminary
results in case people are keeping a winter list. For more careful
directions for any of these, please get in touch. I am on the Pelee count
tomorrow,
Our count was conducted today, December 18 in the circle centred near Avenue Rd
and Eglinton. All 24 sectors have now been heard from. A good total of 90
species was found with 42,723 individual birds.
Some of the highlights include;
Trumpeter Swan at 15, just one shy of the record.

Hello,
I birded the Gatineau Park and Eardley area today. Saw one male Red
Crossbill on the Eardley-Masham Road, as it flew across the road.
Black-capped Chickadees were in fair numbers, feeding on the different cone
seeds. One group had a Red-breasted Nuthatch joined in with them. Saw three
