Today my friend Heather and I birded along the Niagara River from Fort Erie to
Niagara Falls. During this trip we saw large numbers of each of the following:
AMERICAN BLACK DUCKS, GADWALLS, BUFFLEHEADS, RED HEADS, CANVAS BACK DUCKS,
GREATER SCAUP, LESSER SCAUP, RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS, COMMO
Today I was able to visit our old living place in Burlington and dropped in at
the Ship Channel between Burlington and Hamilton under the Burlington Skyway at
the lift bridge and saw at least 2000+ Long-tailed Ducks in the channel at
about 3pm. What a site it was! They were diving in groups an
A large flock of Bohemian and Ceder Waxwings (40 birds?) eating berries on
Monday afternoon around 4:30 near 67 Child Drive.

The Smew reported this morning at 8:30 a.m. at Whitby Harbour has not been
re-found as of 11:24 a.m.
Janice and numerous birders have been searching the spot where it was observed
this morning to no avail. Other areas where it was seen earlier in the season
Observed on east side of bridge amongst several hundred Canada Geese at
0830.
Ross' Goose not seen around Whitby Harbour or boat launch off Gordon Street,
0815-0900.
Directions: 401 exit at Brock Street South to bridge just north of harbour.

The first Common Crackle of the year arrived at our backyard feeders this
morning. This is about 10 days earlier than normal. Our house backs on to
Donegan Park which is at the foot of D'Arcy Street in Cobourg's east end.
