The northern shrike was seen at the south east corner of the marina at 6:50
this evening on top of a tree. After about a minute, it flew into the bushes
on the west side of the path.
Directions: To get to Col. Sam Smith Park, take Kipling Ave. south from the QEW
and continue south of Lakesh
Hi All,
On Sunday 25th ( 10:30 AM – 2:15 PM) I have seen 23 species.
Yellow-rumped warbler (2), Horned grebe ( 6, one was close to summer plumage),
Am. tree swallow ( they were flying and singing, looking at birdhouses),
Brown-headed cowbird (several), Golden-crowned kinglet ( several on one sp
Birding the Carden Alvar was excellent today. We found Loggerhead Shrikes at
five locations including two colour banded individuals. One of the banded
shrikes is presumably the same bird photographed in Hamilton a week ago. See
links. We will be making a full report to Wildlife Preservation Canada.
Today at around 1 pm, we saw 3 Tree Swallows circling above the manmade pond at
the north end of the park, viewable from the platform just off the main trail.
One adult flew repeatedly to the bird box mounted at the north end of the pond.
They were not seen on our return about a half- hour later

Etobicoke Creek, Toronto – from Queensway Hospital south to Marie Curtis Park.
1 Red Crossbill (female or immature), 2 Golden-crowned Kinglets, 2 American
Woodcock, 1 Ring-necked Duck.
3 Eastern Garter snakes emerging from hibernaculum.
Sighting for March 19, 2012
I was out in the yard doing spring cleanup and heard an Eastern Phoebe calling
several times throughout the day. Later in the afternoon, a Northern Harrier
cruised through the backyard, sending the Redwinged Blackbirds and Grackles
into a tizzy, while a pair of Turkey Vultures soared over Sturg
Shortly before noon I observed a Green Heron flying and landing along the
creek just south of Crosby, Ontario from Hwy 15. The creek is 750 metres
from the junction of Hwy 15 and Cty Rd 42. The heron was on the west side
of the highway. Wood Ducks and Hooded Mergansers were also seen.

Hi Everyone
Today at Presqu'ile P.P. we observed 2 Snowy Owls off Owen Point, 1 on Gull
Island and the second on High Bluff Island. It was interesting that the first
one was sitting very close to, two Ring-billed Gulls on a log-maybe the Snowy
already had breakfast?? On Owen Point there was a N
Hi All
In addition to the single bird Marianne reported earlier this afternoon, a
second Black Vulture is being seen over the Visitor Centre parking lot at
the moment. It's a great day for hawk watching - lots of red-tails,
including one dark morph, as well as Turkey Vultures and Rough-legged
Ontbirders
Observed a single Black Vulture with Turkey Vultures this afternoon over the
Northwest Beach parking lot in PPNP. The birds are moving north and south along
the park so it may hang around for the day.

My apologies,
In better light and with many eyes we were able to determine that the Eared
Grebe reported earilier was in fact a Horned Grebe with a distintct tuft on the
top of it's head. The jaeger made a fly past and pictures were taken, we will
be checking to determine if it was a Pomarine
The very early whimbrel at Kaiser Crossroad in Prince Edward County was not
seen or heard today.

Hi,
Did a quick tour this morning (Sunday, 25 Mar 12) of the east end of Ottawa
and ended up at Cobbs Lake Creek east of Bourget at around 1140 am. South
of Russell Road and just west of the bridge over the creek was a flock of
approx 2500 Snow Geese. They were joined by an additional 1000 or so

The Eared Grebe was on the east side about 40 meters off the gravel beach. The
Pomerine Jaeger was distant off of the southern most point where the Whimbrel
watch is located.
