The first-winter Ivory Gull appears to be roosting on the ice at the end of
Baskin Drive. It was there when I left at 5 p.m. To get to the site, take
417 to Arnprior and exit at White Lake exit. Go into Arnprior and turn left
at the second lights onto Baskin Drive (just before turning right you
While checking the Rideau River from Montreal Rd. to Hwy 417 by snowshoe, I
saw one male Barrow's Goldeneye along with some Commons, at 2:30 pm today.
Park vehicle at Strathcona Park and walk (icy) left (north) about 100 m. No
female BAGO seen.

We just got a report of a Great Gray Owl that flew across Highway 60 between km
22 and km 23. This may be one of the birds that were in that very area several
weeks ago.
