I didn't see the dove when I filled the feeders at 10.30 am. There were no
other birders there to ask if they had seen the bird.
It may be sitting deeper in the trees.
The past few days it has been absent for part of the afternoon but has
returned around 4.30 - 5.00.

Out in the bay off Sunnyside Beach and near St. Joseph's hospital there is a
large slender necked grebe a few hundred feet offshore. I could not make out
much more detail with just my binoculars.
This area is accessible from Lakeshore Boulevard between Ellis and Parkside.

Morning Birder's
This is my first report here! I got a tip (earlier this week) from a friend
about possible GGO's along March Valley Road. This morning (8 a.m.) I
checked out the area and observed 3 individual Great Gray Owls on MVR
between Klondike and 1375 March Valley Road all within Department
Following up on S Bodach's Friday post, we found 15 pine grosbeaks at the
Seneca College King Campus at noon today. The birds were on the lawns and at a
crabapple, all near the westerlydrop-off/ bus stop turning circle and east 100
yds to the maintenance entry. This is the academic/sports turnin
While Sue and I were walking along the river walk path we found a Ross's Goose
sitting with about 20 Canada Geese on a patch of ice in the Humber rivers as
viewed from Bridge 3, which is directly behind the college.
Humber Arboretum can be reached from Highway 27 and turning west onto Humber
The white winged dove has NOT been seen so tar today.
We did have an American woodcock at approx 2pm.
I'll check one more time around 5 to see if the bird is back.

I saw this dove at Point Pelee National Park yesterday Saturday February 2nd
2013. It was at the back of the Visitor Centre at the edge of the forest
surrounding the staff parking lot. It was very distinctive, first time I see

At 1:00 pm today there were 2 Greater White-fronted Geese in with about 1000
canada's at the Garden Hill Pond.
Directions: To reach the pond from the 401 take highway 28, Turn left on
Ganaraska road. The pond is on the right hand side of the road.

Today, Sunday I checked out the St. Clair River to Sarnia and joined Lambton
Wildlife for a while on their annual river tour.
There are still hundreds of gulls riding ice floes downriver. There was not
much south of Sombra, but most activity was north of Stanley Line.

A birder stopped at the cottage to let me know the dove was seen at 3.45pm.
It sat on top of the feeder then it moved to the tree just outside the
garden.

I spent a few hours birding the northwest part of York Region with Rob & Angie
Mueller today. Along Ravenshoe Rd. in SW Keswick we had one Snowy Owl at the
western end of the road and, perched on its favourite TV antenna, a female
Cooper's Hawk (it is a local bird that has wintered in this area)
The tufted titmouse was back on Hamilton Island east of Cornwall today at same
place as a few days ago where there were 3 at the feeders. The name Hyland is
on the mailbox almost at the east end of the only road on the island. House #
is 72.

I forgot to include in my post about the geese that there was one adult
Glaucous and one adult Thayer's Gull off the small beach at the start of the
waterfront trail in Port Hope. also of note where over 1000 canada Geese and
one white-winged Scoter at the latter location.

A great day on the Niagara River today. Highlights were:
Slaty-backed Gull - 1 adult on the ice floes, floating downriver at
Queenston. I first picked it out just downstream from the boat docks, from
where it continued floating downstream until it was out of sight. This bird
was reported here last
Mature bald eagle flew into a large spruce tree behind our house. It was being
pursued by two crows which continued to harass it while it was perched. After
about 5-10 minutes of harassment, the eagle flew off in a northeasterly
direction.
