I photographed a Varied Thrush today at Massassauga point, Prince Edward County
2pm-230pm, 24th March. Over the phone I told Terry Sprague it was a male, but
upon reviewing the photo it appears to be female.

Bohemian Waxwings continue to move around and through the Ottawa area. Today I
had a number of flocks including 250+ near Stittsville, 50+ at Shirley's Bay
and 100+ along Carling Ave at Moodie Drive area. The redpoll extravaganza at
the Hilda Road feeders continued today with all sub
I birded the park today from 2:00 to 5:00 pm and the Western Grebe was
in its usual spot off the mouth of the marina lagoon. The juvenile
male Harlequin Duck swimming and diving near the end of rock jetty on
the very eastern side of the park (the outlet of the pond). Also 432

Hi Birders,
Just a quick note about some decent backyard birding in Richmond Hill
yesterday (Sat Mar 23). At my niger seed feeders I had 60+ Redpolls
yesterday, included in there were 2 exilipes Hoary Redpolls and 1
hornemanni Hoary Redpoll - a nice Spring present in the lingering snow.

I observed 3 flocks, totalling nearly 100 birds, this afternoon near Old Finch
and Morningview, Sewell's Road just south of the southern set of railway
tracks, and near Staines Pond. which is on Staines Road just east of
Morningside Ave. in Scarborough, Toronto.

Spotted a few Northern Pintails among the American and Eurasian Widgeons at
the small pond near the quarry at 10th and Green Mountain Road in Hamilton
around 2pm on the 23rd.

A male VARIED THRUSH was seen this afternoon at Massassauga Point Conservation
Area in Prince Edward County south of Belleville. It may very well be the same
individual that was seen earlier this month at Tweed.

Just has an Immature Golden Eagle pass overhead. It was being
harrassed by a bunch of crows, but seemed to be holding it's own.
Still have a few Redpolls coming to the feeder. I can't tell the
difference between "Hoary" and "common" but a couple of these do look
different.
Just west of New Glasgow
We saw a meadowlark, first of season, along Kent 15 between Ridge rd and
Eds line. It was on the east side of the road.

There was a single greater white-fronted goose at Narrows Lock today at 1PM. It
was among the ~550 Canada geese. All the geese are close enough to shore that a
scope is not absolutely necessary. There was also an assortment of other common
waterfowl.

The male Eurasian Wigeon has been refound and is currently being seen in the
wet field on the west side of Fifth Rd E midway between Green Mountain Rd and
Powerline Rd. in Stoney Creek above the escarpment.
