Ring-necked Ducks - Lesser Scaups -Shovellers - Green-winged Teal etc added to
the scene.[Monday 15th am : 1st Mocking Bird + 1st Barn Swallow +
1stEastern Phoebe + 1st Double Crested Cormorants showed plus1st 2
At 9am this morning 3 very active and approachable Pine Warblers were seen
east of the road at the end of Leslie st. at the lake.
Also present were at least 5 Yellow-Rumped Warbler, Ruby Crowned Kinglet,
Woodcock in the wet woods.

This morning on my walk on the old train tracks, which now are a
bike/skidoo/dog walking trai I heard the first Easter Phoebe. i could not
locate the bird.

A flock of roughly 100 Bonaparte's Gulls were actively foraging close to
Chimney Island near Mallorytown Landing this morning. They were mixed in
with Hooded merganser, bufflehead, common merganser, ring-necked duck and
common golden-eye. Directions: Exit 401 at off-ramp #675, go south until

This evening there is a male Eastern Towhee feeding with the ever present House
Sparrows beneath my feeder along with a White throated Sparrow. A Northern
Flicker stopped by briefly late this afternoon. The Towhee is a first here in
the middle of suburbia.

I wanted to provide a quick update on the West Perth Wetlands here in Mitchell
now that spring is clawing its way into the area! Water levels look good so
far and the overgrowth of plants from last year has been nicely knocked down by
heavy winter snows and a good amount of rain
