Green Heron, Great Blue Heron, Lesser Yellow Legs (?) and a Baltimore Oriole
were the highlights tonight around 6:30pm. Just before I left the house, flying
in the direction of the pond was what I suspect to be a Common Tern (pretty
sure not a Caspian). They frequent all the ponds in the neighbo
Checked up on the nighthawk nest to find a chick and a new egg. Things are
looking good and the mother played the broken wings act to take me away from
near the chick.

Mid-afternoon Monday, while checking for butterflies in the Larose Forest east
of Ottawa, I encountered a Palm Warbler on Concession 10 (Drouin Road) near a
marsh. It was at eye level in shrubs at the side of the gravel road. It had
