A check of Amherst Island today with Hans van der Zweep revealed an ice
locked island. There is no open water and consequently no ducks or gulls
were seen. The ferry channel closes in as the boat moves through. We did
not attempt to access the Owl Woods.

At 2:30 pm today I saw a dark Snowy in one field and a light Snowy just one
field north. Location is Eight Line between Brittania and Derry Roads on the
east side. Still there when I checked again an hour later. they are quite far
in, between two farms; you'll need binos.Frederick
Since Presqu’ile Bay and Popham Bay have been frozen over for most of the past
week, birding at Presqu’ile Provincial Park has consisted of searching for land
birds, a pursuit that has had limited success except near feeders.
